One woman killed and two firefighters injured in DeKalb County house fire

ST. JOE, Ind. (WOWO) – A house fire in St. Joe claimed the life of a woman and injured two firefighters according to our partners in news at ABC 21.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday evening when fire officials responded to a house fire located on the 200 block of Widney St.  Three of the four people in the house were able to escape the blaze.

A woman was trapped inside a second story bedroom according to firefighters.  She was later found dead.

Two firefighters were injured as a result of smoke from the blaze.  They were transported to an area hospital and are in stable condition.

The fire took fire crews around five hours to get under control.  The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
