FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Parkview Health this week announced a multi-year scholarship and internship program in partnership with UNCF (United Negro College Fund).

The program will award five minority high school students, living in Fort Wayne and enrolled as a first-year student in any four-year institution, a renewable $5,000 college scholarship, career preparation, paid internships and employment opportunities following graduation.

The program supports the development of minority students in fields like human resources or accounting, with a focus on healthcare, according to Dena Jacquay, chief human resources officer of Parkview Health.

“We look forward to working with students to provide hands-on experience and meaningful mentorships with industry leaders,” she says.

Each student will be paired with a mentor at Parkview who will offer career guidance throughout the entire four-year period.

Scholarship applicants must possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale; be a member of “an underrepresented minority” who is a resident of Fort Wayne; be currently admitted to enroll or enrolled as a first-year student at any UNCF-member institution or other accredited four-year institution; and plan to major in accounting, human resources, organizational leadership and development, sales, business, economics, finance, physical or occupational therapy or healthcare administration.

Scholarship applications are now being accepted through February 28, 2017. Click here to apply.

Internship applications will open in November 2018 and close in February 2019.
