FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Last year’s Fort Wayne Dragon Boat Races led to a big donation this week to the Parkview Foundation.

Mayor Tom Henry and other officials presented a $25,000 check to the Foundation Thursday morning. The money will go to the Foundation’s Patient Care Assistance Fund, which helps meed the needs of patients and families at the new Parkview Cancer Institute.

The Dragon Boat Races combine Chinese traditions, competition and teamwork as 20 paddlers race 46-foot-long boats on a race through the downtown Fort Wayne waterways.

This year’s races are set for June 24th at Headwaters Park West.
