Parkview to close Continuing Care Center

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A skilled nursing facility run at Parkview Randallia Hospital will close within six weeks.

According to the Journal Gazette, the Continuing Care Center stopped accepting new patients on February 1st and will close down on April 1st.

Communications Director Jessica Foor says the move is due to a trend that’s seeing hospitals move away from hosting their own such facilities and instead relying on external facilities that can better cater to a patient’s individual needs.

While hospital officials haven’t said yet what the floor that currently hosts the care center will become afterward, Foor says the 10 patients currently there will continue to receive care until they are discharged.

The move comes a little more than a month after another specialized care facility announced its closure.
