PAULDING, Ohio (WOWO): A Navy sailor from Paulding has been posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.

Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Randall Smith was among five killed in a shooting at the Navy Operational Support Center in Chattanooga, TN in July. Our Partners in News at 21Alive report that, since the FBI and NCIS have ruled the attack as one at least inspired by terrorism, the victims will all receive the honor, which goes to members of the military wounded or killed in the line of duty. 

The shooter, Mohammad Abdulazeez, was killed by police a few minutes after the shooting began.
