Pence Heads to Florida for Republican Fundraiser

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is heading for warmer climes this weekend to headline a fundraiser for Florida's governor.

Pence is scheduled to speak at a Friday night event for Florida Gov. Rick Scott and the Republican Governors Association in Naples, Fla. Other high-profile governors like embattled RGA Chairman Chris Christie of New Jersey are headlining fundraisers this weekend as well.

Scott is seeking re-election in November.

Pence's star rose during a dozen years in Congress, based in part on his prolific fundraising for other members of the House Republican Caucus. He stepped down from the House Republican's third-ranking spot in 2010, shortly before announcing he would run for governor.
