Police Find $100K in Commercial Fireworks at Ohio Home

CLEVELAND (AP): Cleveland police say an investigation into illegal fireworks led to a suburban home where they found commercial-grade fireworks worth $100,000 in a garage.

WJW-TV reports a 77-year-old Parma man and a younger Cleveland man were arrested in connection with the bust in Parma earlier this week.

Police say undercover officers went to a Cleveland home to buy illegal fireworks, and the seller offered to get them larger commercial fireworks. Detectives followed the seller to the Parma home.

Chief Calvin Williams says the neighborhood could have seen significant damage if those fireworks had ignited.

Police are using the case to remind residents that most fireworks are illegal in Cleveland, with exceptions for smaller items such as sparklers and smoke bombs.
