Police Find Missing Man Dead in Cornfield

NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Just before midnight Tuesday, the Noble County Sheriff’s Department received a request for a welfare check in the area of 1200 W and US 6.

When officers arrived to the scene, they were advised that Anastacio Lopez was missing, and was last known to be in the area of 1200 W south of US 6. During a search of the area, a shoe was found in the roadway, and further investigation led to the discovery of a male subject lying in a cornfield who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle that was no longer in the area.

The male was later identified as Lopez. He was pronounced dead at the scene, due to injuries sustained after being struck.  There is an ongoing investigation being conducted at this time.
