Police say IU Student had Bomb-Making Materials

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) – Police say an Indiana University student has been arrested after investigators found dangerous chemicals and other materials in his apartment that could be used to make bombs.

Bloomington police say the 20-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night after he was released from a hospital, where he had been taken on Friday for evaluation.

The man was jailed on a preliminary charge of attempting to manufacture an explosive device.

An IU spokesman tells The Herald-Times the man is currently enrolled and is a former employee in the studio art department.

Police say numerous chemicals that could be used in making explosives were found in the man's apartment in a large complex near Memorial Stadium.
