Police stand-off in Kosciusko County ends peacefully

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and Mentone Police responded around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a potential shooting inside a residence in the Palestine Lake area.

When the officers arrived in the 5000 West block of County Road 525 South, Mentone, they were advised that a Mentone man had confined himself inside and threatened “suicide by cop.”

While on the scene, officers determined he had discharged a long gun and was holding a firearm near the doorway.

The officers spoke with the man via cellphone for several hours, and he eventually gave himself up.

He was taken to a health facility for evaluation.

It is unclear at this time if the man will face charges.
