WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – A Purdue University official is requesting raises for the school's faculty.

Purdue University Senate Chairwoman Patricia Hart says faculty members have received less than a six percent raise over the past five years. She says that's the second smallest amount compared to other Big Ten schools.

Harts says the university would have to implement 4 to 5 percent raises over each of the next two years to put Purdue faculty back in the middle of the pack.

She tells WLFI-TV (http://bit.ly/1BKm94t ) that her request is part of an ongoing conversation with the university's trustees and President Mitch Daniels.

Hart also has asked the university to be more transparent as it re-evaluates its leaves policy.
