Relatives of homicide victim still seek answers one year later

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): One year after a Fort Wayne man was shot to death outside the East Central Tower apartments, family members gathered to renew their call for justice.

Spencer Smith was 20 years old when he died. Police found him in the early morning hours, mortally wounded.

What was then the 22nd Allen County homicide of 2017 remains unsolved.

“I love Spencer and I miss him… and I think about him every day,” Smith’s grandfather, David Miller, told our Partners in News at ABC21. “I know he is in heaven and I will see him soon. It just gets tougher. It’s really tough.”

Family members are pleading with the public to contact police or Crime Stoppers with any information about the shooting.

“I pray every day that whoever did this is caught,” Smith’s grandmother, Wanda Smith, said. “They can’t just keep letting this happen.”
