FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It was all laughs and smiles at a tribute to fallen teacher Chris Himsel Friday at Cedar Canyons Elementary.

Students, teachers and other community members paused to celebrate the life and legacy of the second grade teacher Chris Dodane. The assembly featured teachers and Northwest Allen County Schools Superintendent Chris Himsel in the dunk tank.

The dunk tank was a fundraiser with money going to fund education for Dodane's children. School officials wouldn't confirm the amount they raised, but hinted it was significant.

“You have to remember the good times. You have to remember all the good things he did.” Himsel said. “That's what this week tried to focus on. He made a positive difference in the lives of kids.”

The school will also build a memorial garden dedicated to Dodane's memory.
