Second Person Dies After State Road 1 Crash

The two car head-on crash that occurred yesterday morning on State Road 1, claimed the life of a 45-year-old man from Butler and now a 13-year-old girl from Fort Wayne.

45-year-old Ryan Turner of Butler was killed and pronounced dead at the scene. He was riding with Melissa Mills from Fort Wayne when she collided head-on with an SUV driven by Ashley Crow of Saint Joe.

Although Turner was wearing his seatbelt at the time, his injuries were too severe. A rear seat passenger in Mills’ vehicle, 13-year-old Aiyana Mills, was critically injured and was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital in critical condition.

Early this afternoon, Aiyana Mills died as a result of her injuries. Both Melissa Mills (head injury) and Crow (internal injuries) were taken to a Fort Wayne hospital and their conditions are not known.

Because of discrepancies in driver accounts and witness statements, police are still investigating what caused the crash.
