Shooting Wednesday Night Just North of City’s Downtown

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man was shot several times Wednesday night just north of the City’s downtown. Fort Wayne Police were called around 9:30 P.M. to Florence Avenue on report of shots fired. When they got to the scene, officers found broken glass, blood, and shell casings in the street. A fresh blood trail led police to a home on Greenlawn Avenue, which they say smelled strongly of marijuana. No one was home, but around the same time, a shooting victim showed up at a hospital. The victim, Zachariah Parrish, reported that he was driving when a black man stopped him and pointed a gun at him. The man got into the back seat and demanded money. Parrish gave him cash and told him that was all he had, but the suspect didn’t believe him and shot him several times. Parrish then drove to the home on Greenlawn Avenue and had his fiancé drive him to a hospital. According to hospital officials, Parrish was shot once in the left shin, and twice in the forearm.
