Single Vehicle Crash Claims Life of Churubusco Man

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana State Police are investigating a single car crash that claimed the life of a 26-year-old Churubusco man.

According to police, it happened Tuesday afternoon in rural Churubusco. Tristan Bender was speeding eastbound on County Road 150 N, which is just west of Johnson Road.

He was trying to get away from the Churubusco Town Marshal who had been chasing him with his emergency equipment activated.

Bender’s vehicle traveled off the roadway and hit a tree head-on, resulting in Bender being ejected from the car.

He was taken to the hospital by Samaritan where he was pronounced dead a short time later. It’s not known at this time whether drugs or alcohol were involved, but the crash is still under investigation.
