Snow Slows Travel Across Much of Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Several inches of snow have slowed travel across much of Indiana as many people are returning to work after the New Year's Day holiday.

More than a dozen Indiana counties issued travel advisories Thursday as most of the state was under a winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service.

The weather service forecast 2 to 5 inches of snow for state's central and northern counties, but reported 5.5 inches of snowfall in Indianapolis about 9 a.m. Thursday.

Numerous crashes happened on slick roads, but no serious accidents were immediately reported Thursday morning.

The weather service says drifting could occur later in the day with wind gusts about 30 mph in central Indiana.
