Soldier Asks Community to Let Non-Service Dog Serve as Emotional Support

OXFORD, Ind. (WOWO); A soldier with post-traumatic stress syndrome, who wants to move to Indiana to be closer to family, is struggling to find a town that will accept his rescued pit bull.

27-year-old Wayne Tibbett says the dog he adopted from an animal shelter is not a trained service dog, but serves as emotional support. Tibbett is looking to move into the communities of Oxford or Fowler, but due to city ordinances, his 2-year-old Pitbull named Zorro isn't allowed to live in his home.

Tibbet's military contract is up this May and his mother-in-law plans to ask the Oxford council to amend their ordinance, and allow the dog to live in the community with proper medical documentation.
