FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Komets have acquired forward Jordan Sims from the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits as compensation for a trade earlier this season for forward Thomas Ebbing.

The 29-year-old was born in Fort Wayne while his father Al Sims was serving his first season as Fort Wayne’s head coach, following a 10-year NHL career as a defenseman.

The younger Sims is skating his fifth pro year after making his ECHL debut in the 2014-15 season in stints with Idaho and Evansville. He’s also played for Cincinnati and played two games in the AHL with San Jose.

Al Sims is in the Komets record book as one of their most successful coaches, setting records for 504 total wins and 866 games, claiming three division titles, two regular-season titles, and five league championships.

The Komets will be playing three games in four nights this week, as they face Cincinnati Wednesday at 7:35pm before returning home to face Toledo Friday night, then heading back to Cincinnati for another game against the Cyclones on Saturday. Hear every Komets game live on WOWO.
