IONIA, Mich. (AP) _ The Michigan Corrections Department is refusing to release photos or video of the fences involved in a prison escape.

The state turned down a public records request Tuesday by The Associated Press, saying the release would affect security. The state cites exemptions under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act.

Officials say Michael David Elliot used his hands to get through two fences Sunday night at the Ionia Correctional Facility. He was captured Monday night, more than 100 miles away in LaPorte County in northwestern Indiana.

The 40-year-old Elliot is serving a no-parole sentence for four murders in Gladwin County. He's been in prison for 20 years.
