FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): More Americans will be hitting the road this summer compared to last year, according to the annual summer travel study conducted by GasBuddy.

More than 75 percent of Americans plan to take part in at least one trip, up a little over 2 percent from last year, with an overwhelming majority doing so by car.

Patrick DeHaan of GasBuddy tells WOWO news the biggest reason for the increase is the big difference in gas prices, with the current national average standing at about 50 cents per gallon lower today than a year ago.
