Supporters Rally for Justice in Downtown Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Many people were holding up signs in downtown Fort Wayne on Saturday to rally for justice.

18-year-old Michael Brown was shot in Ferguson, Missouri last month by a police officer. After the officer was not indicted for killing the 18-year-old, protests against the ruling continue across the country.

In Fort Wayne,  Ta'Vontae “T.J” Haney was shot and killed by police officers in April of 2013. According to our partners in news at 21Alive, Haney's family and friends say his death is similar to the Brown case.

Last April, T.J was in a car that was pulled over by police for a routine traffic stop. T.J ran out of the car with a gun in his possession. Witnesses told police he put his hands in the air and police shot him down.

T.J's family says he didn't point the firearm at police, yet he was still killed.

Supporters of T.J.'s case were holding up signs and say they will continue to fight for justice in his death, as well as other families who have gone through similar situations.
