INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Five of Indiana's nine superdelegates to the Democratic National Convention say they will support Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The state narrowly voted in favor of Clinton over then-U.S. Sen. Barack Obama during the 2008 Democratic primary.
This time around, five of the six people who responded to an Associated Press survey indicated they would support Clinton over former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley or U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Several cited Clinton's experience as senator, secretary of state and first lady.
Other raised questions about whether Sanders, Clinton's chief rival, is electable because he labels himself a democratic socialist.
The sixth respondent was uncommitted.
Superdelegates can support the candidate of their choice, regardless of what happens in the Indiana primary. They make up about 30 percent of the delegates needed to clinch the nomination.
