Suspect Dead After Confrontation With Indianapolis Police

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indianapolis police say an armed robbery suspect is dead after officers confronted two suspects in the robbery of a fast-food restaurant.

Police said Tuesday that officers opened fired Monday night on a car carrying the two suspects. The department said it wasn't clear whether police bullets killed the suspect.

The Marion County coroner's office will determine the suspect's cause of death and also identify that person.

Police say officers heard shots inside the car when they found the suspect's car at an apartment complex. Department spokesman Sgt. Kendale Adams says the officers then returned fire.

The other robbery suspect was arrested.

The police action shooting comes about a week after officers fatally shot a 15-year-old carjacking suspect after police say the boy drove a car at officers.
