Suspect in Killing Waives Hearing on Gun Charges

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ An Indiana man named as a suspect in a quadruple homicide has agreed to remain in federal custody until his trial on federal firearms charges.

Samuel Sallee waived his right to a detention hearing in paperwork filed by his public defender Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Indianapolis. The hearing to determine whether Sallee could be released before trial had been scheduled for Thursday.

Sallee was indicted May 14 on charges of violating federal firearms laws. Federal prosecutors say he's a flight risk and dangerous.

He's been held on unrelated charges since he was named as a suspect in the May 11 slayings of four people in nearby Waynesville.

Federal Defender Director Monica Foster says authorities would have charged Sallee in the killings if they had enough evidence.
