FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): One person was taken to the hospital early Saturday morning with critical injuries after crashing their vehicle into a tree.

Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2800 block of E. Maple Grove Avenue after multiple callers reported that a vehicle crashed into a tree.

Once on the scene at 3:18 a.m. police found the damaged Chevy Blazer had hit the tree head-on. The driver was extracted from the vehicle and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Driver, Jared Medrano was the only person in the car and police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
