KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) — Many Indiana school districts say they're still struggling to make up for revenue lost when statewide property tax caps took full effect in 2010.

The Indiana Department of Local Government Finance says tax caps have cut some districts' funding by $47,000 and others' by nearly $8 million over the last five years.

That's left the districts scrambling to fund transportation, capital projects and pensions and pay debts.

Peru Community School Corp. director of finance and operations Stanley Hall tells the Kokomo Tribune his district has eliminated five of its 17 bus routes and reduced driver pay from $22 an hour to about $17 per hour to compensate for the cuts. It also has reduced staff.
