Teachers File Strike Paperwork in Edon Northwest District

EDON, Ohio: They are bracing for a potential for a teachers strike in the Edon Northwest District.

The union representing educators for the school corporation in Williams County,Ohio has filed a 10-day notice of their intention to strike. It's the latest in the stalemate that's been going on since the previous contract expired in June.

According to the Bryan Times, details of a mediation session were made public. The union says that meeting was private and protect. School systems officials say they were just keeping the public informed.

Mark Blue with the union, says they are still open to negotiation.

The teachers say they've taken cuts in wages and benefits while health insurance costs have jumped. The school board says they are strapped for cash, something the union challenges.
