Theft Case Reported at Local Church

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man is suspected of stealing a woman's cellphone after she posted an advertisement on Craigslist.

The woman, whose name has not yet been released, posted an ad on Craigslist, stating that her Samsung Galaxy S5 Active cellphone was up for sale. The advertisement posted the phone at $700 and the man contacted her to purchase the phone. The two agreed to meet at the Fellowship Missionary Church on E. Tillman Road.

The man said it was for a cancer patient and the purchase was pre-approved, without any need for payment, by the pastor of the Church.

When questioned by police, the pastor said he had no knowledge of the suspect's purchase, or even, who the suspect was.

The man's phone number has since been disconnected. The suspect is described as a black male, over 6 feet tall wearing a black sock hat and leather coat. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-STOP or 1-800-237-STOP.
