FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Three people and a dog were able to escape a house fire yesterday on Fort Wayne’s southeast side.

Fort Wayne firefighters were called to a home on Bowser Avenue south of Oxford shortly before 5pm after an outside fire between the home and its garage spread to the garage and the back of the house. An adult living there was able to get two children out of the house, while a neighbor got the dog out safely.

Crews had the fire under control in six minutes, but not before the home suffered moderate fire and smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
