Trade Center Beam Placed for NW Ind. 9/11 Memorial

SCHERERVILLE, Ind. (AP): A bent steel beam for a World Trade Center tower is now in place as the centerpiece of a northwestern Indiana town's Sept. 11 memorial. Construction workers used a crane Wednesday to move the beam onto the memorial outside the Schererville Police Department. The Lake County town received the 14-foot-long beam in 2011 from the Port Authority of New York.
