Traffic Stop Leads To Wanted Man

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  A two month search for a man has ended.

Around 7:11 p.m. Friday night, Fort Wayne police captured 22 year old Travon Demetrius Russell after a traffic stop in downtown Fort Wayne.  He had 3 outstanding warrants stemming from a December 23rd raid at a home at 336 1/2 W. Packard street.  Russell was originally found with a large quantity of marijuana and several handguns.  He failed to appear in court on those initial charges.

Russell is now charged with maintaining a Common Nuisance, dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana.  He was also given an additional charge for possession of a Schedule 1 substance, as he was carying a baggie that tested positive for “ecstasy.”

A detective with the Vice and Narcotics Bureau spotted Russell in a van driving eastbound on Third Street.  They stopped the vehicle in the 300 block of Superior and was able to take Russell into custody without incident.

Investigation is ongoing.
