Trial Rescheduled Again for Man Accused of Killing Landlord

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): A trial has been rescheduled again for an east-central Indiana man accused of fatally shooting his landlord in January 2014.

Sixty-year-old William Martz of Eaton is charged with murder in the shooting death of 50-year-old Mark Gilland of Eaton. The (Muncie) Star Press reports his trial has been rescheduled for Nov. 16.

Court documents say Gilland let Martz live in a camper for free on property owned by Gilland. Witnesses told police that Gilland intended to evict Martz. Authorities say Martz's body was found in a barn on the property.

Police say Martz was arrested at a Muncie hotel, and Gilland's truck was spotted outside and a barn key was found inside.

The newspaper says Martz's trial has been rescheduled at least four times. It was first scheduled for July 7, 2014.
