Two injured in Fort Wayne house fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Two people were hospitalized after a bedroom fire that happened in a home in the 4400 block of S. Monroe this afternoon.

Fort Wayne Fire Department crews were called to the home at about 3:49pm to find heavy smoke coming from the home. The people inside had managed to get themselves out, and crews immediately started giving medical treatment to one person found in the front yard.

One adult and one child were hospitalized in stable condition with smoke-related issues. A cat was rescued from the building. Crews had the fire under control within 8 minutes.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
