ALEXANDRIA, Ind. (AP): Authorities say two people have died from a head-on crash on a rural highway in central Indiana.
Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson says three other people were flown to an Indianapolis hospital with injuries after the crash on Indiana 9 near the town of Alexandria.
Richardson says the crash happened about 6:30 a.m. this morning when a vehicle crossed the highway's center line and into the path of an SUV. Both people killed were inside the SUV.
Information about the injuries suffered by the crash survivors wasn't immediately released.
The highway about 40 miles northeast of Indianapolis was closed for about three hours after the crash.
