NEW HARMONY, Ind. (AP) _ The University of Southern Indiana's Board of Trustees will vote next month on proposed tuition increases at the Evansville school.

Board of Trustees Chairman Jeffrey Knight says the increases are necessary so the school can invest in resources. The Evansville Courier and Press reports (http://bit.ly/1SYtOIM ) he told a public hearing Wednesday that the $400 increase over two years are part of a plan trustees approved in 2013 to increase and realign tuition pricing over six years.

USI proposes a $201 increase in 2015-2016 tuition, setting it at $6,898 for a full-time, in-state undergraduate student. Tuition in 2016-2017 is proposed to increase $207 to $7,105.

The trustees' vote is scheduled during a July 9 meeting in New Harmony.
