UPDATE: Indiana Conservation Officers Conducting Death Investigation at Hardy Lake

SCOTT COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a water-related death that occurred at Hardy Lake near Scottsburg early Saturday morning.


Shortly before 1:00 A.M., Scott County Dispatch received a call of a woman unresponsive in the water, and Indiana Conservation Officers along with the Scott County Sheriff’s Department and Scott County EMS responded. She was transported by boat to shore, where First Aid and CPR were rendered, but efforts were unsuccessful.


The woman has been identified as 47-year-old Nancy Burton, of Lexington, Indiana. Her husband, 58-year-old Edward “Ronnie” Burton, was also in the boat.

 

 


Alcohol is believed to have been a factor, however, no foul play is suspected. 


An autopsy was performed this morning and cause of death and toxicology are pending.
