UPDATE: Prosecutor Seeks Death Penalty in 4 Indy Slayings

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A prosecutor says he's seeking the death penalty against one of the defendants in the drug-related slayings of four people on the Indianapolis south side.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said Tuesday he had filed a request for the death penalty against 24-year-old Kenneth “Cody'' Rackemann in the Feb. 20 slayings.

Rackemann faces four counts each of murder and felony murder and robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery charges in the slayings of 21-year-old Hayley Navarra, 22-year-old Kristy Mae Sanchez, 43-year-old Jacob Rodemich, and 47-year-old Walter Burnell, all of Indianapolis.

Court documents say Rackemann had worked security for Burnell, a drug dealer, and was searching for a safe inside the home when he started shooting those inside.

A message seeking comment was left with Rackemann's public defender.
