Vectren: April gas bills likely more than expected…

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana natural gas provider Vectren is warning customers that their April gas bills might be higher than expected because of an unusually cold March.

Vectren notes that April gas bills reflect March energy consumption. This March was colder than average and temperatures were significantly lower compared to last year.

Vectren’s Indiana-North president Brad Ellsworth says this heating season has hung on longer than expected. He notes that the cold weather drove an increase in usage and that furnaces were still running all the way through March.

The utility company is continuing several programs to help customers manage costs, including second-chance options for those who have previously broken payment arrangements. Customers can also request to pay bills in smaller increments over a set period of time.
