Warsaw Police complete early investigation into pedestrian death from patrol car

WARSAW, Ind. (WOWO): Early investigations suggest that alcohol, drugs, excessive speed and distracted driving weren’t factors in a crash Friday, according to a press release from Warsaw Police Department.

Sharon Mitterling, 67, was killed in front of her home in Warsaw when she was struck by a Winnoa Lake Police Department squad car.

The car was driven by Patrolman John Leeper, 30.

The incident is still under investigation. It could take up to 10 days for the toxicology report to return for Leeper. And, it might be more than a month for the report from the autopsy on Mitterling.
