ARCADIA, Ind. (AP) _ Authorities say an intoxicated driver was behind the wheel of a school bus carrying 21 students when it left a central Indiana roadway.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says the driver, a 53-year-old woman from Arcadia, was arrested Monday on initial charges including 21 counts of operating while intoxicated endangering a minor.

The sheriff's office says the Hamilton Heights School Corporation bus left the roadway Monday morning and a hit utility pole guide wire. According to the sheriff's office, the driver kept going and picked up more students before dropping them off at school.

No serious injuries were reported. The sheriff's office says students on the bus told their parents, who then told school personnel.

The school corporation says the driver was suspended, and her firing will be recommended at the next school board meeting.
