ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Ten East Allen County Schools will be renovated after a $87.5 million resolution was approved.

The East Allen County Schools Board of Trustees and other school officials approved a resolution that would build and finance renovations to 10 schools in the district, according to our news partners 21Alive.

The school corporation didn’t receive a petition, so a referendum is not required. Taxpayers who have reached the property tax cap, will not see an increase in taxes, according to EACS officials.

New Haven High School, Southwick Elementary School, Cedarville Elementary School, Leo Elementary School, Leo Jr./Sr. High School, Heritage Jr./Sr. High School, Woodlan Jr./Sr. High School, Paul Harding Junior High School, East Allen University and Prince Chapman Academy will all receive renovations. New Haven Intermediate School will also be built with the money.

School officials hope the renovations will make the schools safer and create a healthier learning environment.

Construction is scheduled to start next fall.
