17-year-old Shooter to be Tried as Adult

Prosecutors say the 17-year-old who shot a man with a stolen handgun during an attempted carjacking in Whitley County, will be tried as an adult.  Felony charges for attempted murder were filed against Dakota Kimbler.  On Sunday, he allegedly shot his victim in the chest after hiding the back seat of the man’s car.  The victim was able to the get the gun away from Kimbler and held him at gunpoint until police got there.  Investigators say Kimbler ran away from the Pierceton Woods juvenile facility the night before the shooting.
