Columbus, OH (WOWO) Ohio State University confirmed that a 2023 investigation uncovered hundreds of sexual misconduct allegations against Dustin Thompson, a former assistant director of hospital security at Wexner Medical Center.
The Office of Institutional Equity found “sufficient evidence” of sexual misconduct, exploitation, and harassment after contractors from security vendor KNS Services reported concerns. Thompson allegedly fondled, harassed, and exploited multiple KNS employees over several years according to NBC-4.
Thompson and a former Department of Public Safety employee, Matthew Wolfzorn, resigned in fall 2023 in lieu of termination. Investigators interviewed more than two dozen witnesses, including two victims, Thompson, and Wolfzorn. Allegations included inappropriate touching, sexual jokes, coercion, and harassment at both OSU facilities and private residences.
Campus crime reports from 2023 reflected a spike in fondling complaints, with 366 incidents reported—over 300 more than in 2022 or 2024. While the misconduct was substantiated, the university said there was insufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges, and contractors did not wish to file them.
OSU spokesperson Dan Hedman described the allegations as “disturbing and antithetical to Ohio State’s values and workplace culture” and encouraged anyone experiencing harassment to report it.
Both Thompson and Wolfzorn could not be reached for comment.
