FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – Authorities say eight people have safely escaped a house fire in Fort Wayne.

WANE and WPTA report the Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to a home shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday and firefighters found flames coming from the first floor living room. 

Three adults and five children all escaped safely before fire crews arrived. No injuries were reported, but the inside of the house sustained moderate smoke, fire and water damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
