The Allen County Council has approved the hiring of a new Sheriff’s Department finance director.  According to the Journal Gazette, the new financial officer would assist Sheriff Frees with his $24 million budget.  The salary for the new position is expected to range between $48,859 and $63,623 thousand dollars.  The expectation is that the benefit to having someone on staff to oversee department finances would outweigh the cost of paying that employee’s salary.
