FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): April showers could bring a distinctive summer buzz for many Indiana residents this year. Reports say rain totals are running about 3 inches above average for the month in northeastern Indiana. That has created ideal breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The wet weather also could breathe life into eggs that didn’t hatch last year because of the drought. Allen County Department of Health Vector Control Director David Fiess says mosquito eggs can survive up to 10 years.
