(FOX NEWS) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told a security cabinet meeting on Tuesday that Israel is “deepening” its operation in Lebanon, where forces have been pushing back against attacks by the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist group.
“Under my direction and that of the defense minister, together with the chief of staff, we are deepening our operation in Lebanon,” Netanyahu said. “The IDF is operating with large forces on the ground and taking control of strategic areas. We are fortifying the security zone to protect the northern communities.”
Netanyahu said Monday he had ordered the military to “intensify the blows” against Hezbollah signaling an escalation in Israel’s campaign in Lebanon as cross-border drone attacks surged.
“We are at war with Hezbollah,” Netanyahu said in a video released on X.
