Another Update on Allen County Highway Conditions

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Leaders with the Allen County Highway Department South Barn have released another update on highway conditions.

They say high water along Bostic Road has receded to the point that vehicles can pass through. However, barricades warning of high water on the road remain in place at this time.

As of 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the following roads remained closed due to high water:

·South County Line Road between US 27 & Winchester Road

·Marion Center Road between US 27 & Winchester Road

Drivers should never drive through flooded roadways, especially if the water is moving rapidly, and never drive around the barriers warning you that the road is flooded.

Also, the highway department continues to offer citizens free sandbags. The fill-them-yourself bags and sand will be available anytime until further notice inside the salt storage units at the highway department’s two maintenance facilities.

The north facility is located at 2234 Carroll Road and the south facility is located at 8317 East Tillman

Road.

Sandbags are available on a first-come basis and you will need to bring your own shovel. Citizens should not attempt to use salt as a flood preventative because it floats and dissolves, no longer blocking water.
