Planners Approve Fort Wayne Kroger Expansion

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Plans have furthered to build a $10 million Kroger store expansion at St. Joe Village shopping plaza.

On Monday, the Fort Wayne Plan Commission approved adding more than 31,000 square feet to create a 113,180-square-foot location. According to the Journal Gazette, the store needs final approval by City Council members to rezone the area, so it can become a shopping center district. Currently, the site is designated as a “neighborhood” center. Members will vote in the next few weeks.

The Kroger Marketplace in St. Joe Village includes more than 100 employees, along with a full-service floral department, deli and bakery. Unlike traditional stores, the Marketplace offers expanded merchandise such as home furnishings, office supplies, and home decor. By the end of October, Fort Wayne Kroger Marketplaces will also offer coffee at Starbucks cafes, located inside.
